We are seeking a CAD Technician to join our new in-house design division.

Founded in 1982 by Joseph Gallagher our Chairman, JGL has developed to become the largest and leading tunnelling sub-contractor in the United Kingdom, further developing internationally in the Middle East.

Its Construction capability range from complex and intricate tunnelling sequencing involving traditional hand tunnelling techniques, to novel cutting-edge construction methods on large scale tunnelling projects such as Crossrail and Themes Tideway. 

In addition to the underground construction JGL have successfully developed a reputation constructing quality above ground structures for residential development, based on low to high rise concrete frames.

To add to this legacy and to secure a continued supply of quality tunnelling and construction methodology to its clients JGL are founding a new in-house design team and are seeking a Senior CAD technician to support the Design and Build construction projects across the business. 

Role Summary
We are seeking a Senior CAD Technician to join our new inhouse design division 
The candidate will provide CAD drafting detailing expertise to support the divisions of the business.

Responsibilities, but not limited to:
Produce engineering drawings from rough sketches and to as built detail
produce engineering design calculations of basic structural form to size up structural elements.
Produce reinforcement detailing drawing to construction standard
Relay engineering drawings from design and standard detailing practice 
Produce aesthetically pleasing drawings to a sufficient engineering detail and the simplest form for construction.
Produce drawings to company standards and procedures
Mentor junior members of the team
Work collaboratively within the engineering team and be self sufficient
Promotes and contributes to the successful completion of projects
Assume responsibility 
Exceeds deliverable deadline
Use own initiative to prepare standard detailing for repetitive structural form to develop an economical and streamlined work structure.

Qualifications and Skills 
Advanced experience in the use of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, with 3D modelling experience preferred;
Strong written and verbal communication skills 
Software: AutoCAD, MicroStation, 3D modelling software, Engineering design software (under guidance)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
Superior planning and organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure on multiple project deadlines;
Excellent attention to detailing
Sound decision making skills
Ability to work independently and collaborate with remote located staff;
Excellent numeracy and analytical skills
You will be keen to develop and enhance your professional engineering skills, (mentoring for a professional qualification will be provided to the candidate who naturally gravitates towards hard work and a determination to succeed.)
You will possess a minimum of 5 to 10 years' experience with expertise in underground structures / tunnelling temporary works and having worked within a design consultancy environment.
You will have team leader capability with the ability to help support, mentor and develop junior draftsmen within the team and support the engineers.
Sound understanding of health and safety regulations, design risk assessment process in line with CDM H&S regulations.
