Orsett, Essex: Money raised will go towards funding The Lighthouse Club’s invaluable support services funded by the industry, for the industry. Including the Construction Industry Helpline, providing a 24/7 safety net for all construction workers and their families in the UK and Ireland.

As part of the partnership, different businesses and projects across the group will hold a “Lighthouse Day” to raise funds for the charity ranging from physical challenges to cake sales and treasure hunts to name a few. Additionally, for every Safety and Well-being Observation Card that is submitted on site, we will donate to the charity.

Bill Hill CEO of the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity said,  “We receive no public finance and rely on the support from within the industry to help us provide vital support services to our construction families in need, so we are delighted and proud to have been chosen as The Joseph Gallagher Group’s Charity of the Year. We are receiving an increasing number of calls to our construction industry helpline for financial and well-being support and with two construction workers taking their own lives every day, we need to ensure that we develop our ‘Building Mental Health’ programme so that people know where to turn to in times of need. We can only achieve this with the support of organisations like The Joseph Gallagher Group."

Chairman and Founder Joseph Gallagher said “We hope our collaboration with The Lighthouse Club will raise much-needed funds but also awareness within our industry, providing opportunities to inspire people to support the charity and seek support themselves.  Rather than simply writing a cheque we want to build an on-going partnership with The Lighthouse Club in delivering their valuable services which benefit the wider well-being of the construction community.”

About the Joseph Gallagher Group

The Joseph Gallagher Group consists of several businesses that complement the core activities of tunnelling and civil engineering. The companies, combined with our exceptional engineering personnel and focus on "The Right Solution" give us the ability to deal with most technical issues that arise on a project using in-house capability, whilst being able to meet and exceed most client expectations for delivery and value.

About The Lighthouse Club

We are the only charity that provides financial and emotional support to the construction community and their families who have suffered an injury or long-term illness or simply need a helping hand. We receive no public funding and rely on the generosity of those within in the industry to help us continue our vital work. Shocking statistics show that there is still much work to be done to improve the safety and emotional wellbeing of our construction community, but we can only do that with your support.
Last year, the Construction Industry Helpline supported over 1500 construction families in crisis and over 400 families were granted £735,000 of emergency financial help. Of the 1500 calls into the helpline, 1100 of these were given advice and support on issues ranging from stress and depression to legal, debt management and taxation advice.
