Our Ma’ameer Culvert tunnelling project in Bahrain, hit some of the fastest installation times recorded by the JGL Middle East Team last month. An impressive 1,116 metres of pipe were laid in parallel tunnels, 1 metre apart under one of the busiest roads in Bahrain. Two of our Iseki Microtunnelling Ltd machines were used simultaneously with the sequence of installation designed to minimise any potential settlement. Average production including setting up and moving was over 37 metres in 12 hours with each tunnel being 120 metres long!
These fantastic results were achieved using two TCC 1200 machines.
A similar installation is currently being prepared for on our HS2 Project at Old Oak Common where 8 parallel 1200mm diameter tunnels will be installed.
The Ma’ameer Culvert project is a very high profile project in Bahrain and has seen close monitoring from The Ministry of Public Works - Roads Projects & Maintenance Directorate (RPMD), who are very pleased with both progress and accuracy of the tunnel installation. The project was designed & supervised by SSH Design with SKD Group of Companies appointed as PC.
The team now have two tunnels left which will be completed shortly.
