Hand Driven Tunnels
Josph Gallagher Ltd is recognised for its expertise in large hand driven tunnels in London Clay and other mediums.
Contracts include:
- Eastney Pumping Station Contract, a 2.13m dia. smoothbore tunnel 50m long was driven on a 25m radius curve. The tunnel segments being specially precast to achieve this tight radius.
- At Kings Cross Station we constructed a 3.5m dia. Cast Iron lined intervention tunnel for the Tube Ticket Hall Redevelopment.
- Concourse tunnels for the Waterloo International Terminal up to 8.5m dia. including overbridges to live tube tunnels.
