Shield Driven Tunnels
A wide variety of shield driven tunnels have been constructed from 1.2m id. to 7.15m id. These have ranged from simple handwork to full EPBM Lovatt machine drives.
- Recent contracts include 1.3 km of 6m dia. smoothbore concrete rings using an open faced Dosco machine for Thameslink 2000 on the CTRL 103 Contract.
- 4 km of twin 7.15m id. Segmental concrete lined tunnel using an EPBM tunnelling machine on the CTRL 240 Contract.
