Joseph Gallagher signs Building Mental Health Charter

Building Mental Health Charter
“...Demonstrating our commitment to the awareness and impact of mental ill health.....”
Joseph Gallagher is very pleased to announce that we have signed the Building Mental Health charter.

The objective of signing the Building Mental Health charter is to demonstrate Joseph Gallagher’s commitment and acceptance in adopting the charter principles.

By signing the charter Joseph Gallagher is pledging to:
  • Provide awareness and understanding of the impact of poor mental ill health to our workforce and promote positive mental health through facilitated workshops, with the aims of:
    • Reducing stigma and discrimination
    • Encouraging conversation in the workplace
  • Educate and enable champions from across the workforce to support keeping our people safe
  • Provide access to accredited Mental Health First Aid training and help signpost workers to support in their communities
  • Recognise and accept education and training provided by peers and Building Mental Health partners

As a company, we are committing to the Building Mental Health Framework which underpins the values of our business and supports people in our industry, every day, and throughout their working lives. Building Mental Health is creating a freely available, industry-wide framework and charter to tackle the mental health crisis in the construction industry.

Every working day, two construction workers take their own life. We have to educate everyone in our industry to recognise the signs and symptoms of our colleagues that are suffering from stress, anxiety or depression and start the conversation to assist in their recovery.

Joseph Gallagher have made some great progress this year, including the introduction of Mental Health First Aiders, awareness days on-sites and providing resources that support our workforce and they can access 24/7/365 - available in 16 languages via our Employee Assistance Programme.
