ISME - Mine Access Tunnels

The design and construction of a new access drift in to the existing mine with the principle aim of the New Drift Project is to provide the access, egress and ventilation requirements.

An Overview
The design and construction of a new access drift in to the existing mine with the principle aim of the New Drift Project is to provide the access, egress and ventilation requirements to permit the orderly development of the recently gained 280 hectare mine extension area. The work involved construction of reinforced concrete portal structure, construction of an 1152m long, 7.5m ID tunnel using sprayed concrete, breaking in to existing mine cavern, and the construction of reinforced concrete tunnel road slab.
