QUALITY ASSURANCE

Quality

At Joseph Gallagher, quality is embedded from design and procurement through to delivery and handover. Across complex tunnelling, shaft construction, trenchless, utilities and heavy civil works, our quality management system provides the structure, assurance and control needed to deliver consistently high standards for our clients. Our dedicated Quality Team sits within the SHEQ function and is led by Petros Gitsopoulos, Group Quality Manager. Working closely with operational teams, designers, subcontractors and suppliers, the team helps embed best practice across the business, strengthens assurance at site level and promotes a culture where standards are understood, challenged and maintained.

Where project complexity or quality risk requires additional support, we are also able to appoint dedicated quality professionals to work directly within the project team and provide focused oversight through delivery.

Central to our approach is our 'Prevention not Correction' philosophy. We focus on identifying risk early, improving preparedness and putting the right controls in place before work starts. By strengthening quality planning, hold points, supplier oversight and site assurance, we reduce rework, protect programme certainty and help achieve the right outcome first time.

Regular site visits, supply chain surveillance and planned quality audits are supported by a disciplined non-conformance, corrective action and root cause analysis process. This includes cross-departmental audits to verify compliance with our integrated management system and to ensure that common processes and standards are being applied consistently across the business. Just as importantly, lessons learned from live projects are captured across the Group and fed back into future planning, design reviews and delivery controls, so that experience gained in one business unit, subsidiary or region can be applied across others and improvement is shared rather than retained locally.

Quality at Joseph Gallagher extends beyond the construction phase. It includes design assurance, material and manufacturing review, subcontractor governance, supplier monitoring and close-out controls, ensuring that solutions are robust, compliant and buildable from the outset. The result is a quality function that supports safe, reliable and efficient delivery while continually raising standards across the Group. In 2026, this work was recognised externally when Joseph Gallagher was named a finalist in the CQI International Quality Awards for Quality Team of the Year.

As an ISO 9001 accredited business since 2015, we operate an integrated management system that provides a consistent quality framework across Joseph Gallagher, NRC, SPA and our other subsidiaries. The same core principles, processes and procedures apply across our operations in the UK, Northern Ireland and the Middle East, including Bahrain, Egypt and Lebanon, while being adapted where necessary to reflect local scope, client requirements and regulatory expectations. This commitment is further strengthened through our engagement with leading professional and industry bodies, including GIRI, The Concrete Society, the British Tunnelling Society, the Chartered Quality Institute and the Institution of Civil Engineers.

Quality at Joseph Gallagher is not an isolated check at the end of a project; it is a management discipline that runs through design, procurement, delivery and handover. Our role is to provide the structure, evidence and leadership that allow projects to succeed with confidence.
