An Overview

Joseph Gallagher installed a new pedestrian underpass through the existing viaduct allowing access to both sides of the railway, easing congestion and providing step-free access for passengers. The station opened in July 1872 and is moderately well preserved. Although, prior to completing the underpass, several key works needed to be undertaken to ensure the stability of the existing Victorian Viaduct.

This is a technically challenging project due to conservation of the historic environment. However, through teamwork and a collaborative approach, we have achieved some great results and were able to identify and mitigate early project risks.
