We completed 400mm HDD crossing in Grantham
The Joseph Gallagher team has successfully completed a 400m HDD crossing in Grantham, installing a 710mm watermain despite challenging ground conditions. This marks the first of six planned crossings and a significant project milestone achieved through excellent teamwork and expertise.
We have successfully completed a 400-metre HDD crossing, installing a 710mm OD SDR11 watermain as part of a major infrastructure project in Grantham. Despite encountering challenging ground conditions, including mudstone, gravels and sands, the team delivered the crossing safely and efficiently through careful planning, technical expertise and excellent collaboration on site.
This achievement marks the first of six HDD crossings on the project, with installation lengths ranging from 160 metres to 850 metres. To complete these works, we are utilising a combination of our 55-tonne American Auger rig and Vermeer Maxi rig, ensuring the most effective solution is applied to each crossing.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in delivering this milestone. Working through demanding conditions and high temperatures has required commitment, professionalism and determination from the entire team, and this successful installation is a testament to their hard work.
With the first crossing now complete, we look forward to progressing to the next phase of the project and continuing to deliver high-quality infrastructure solutions for our client. Stay tuned for further updates as the project advances.
