JGL wins United Infrastructure Award

Joseph Gallagher is proud to announce that we have been awarded the top Supply Chain Award at the United Infrastructure Supply Chain Awards, in recognition of our LIFE (Living Incident Free Everyday) programme.

From United Infrastructure’s perspective, this represents ''the highest award presented across their entire supply chain, recognising JGL above all other suppliers operating across power, water, energy, telecoms and social infrastructure sectors.’’

The award was presented while JGL and United Infrastructure continue to work in close partnership on the United Infrastructure Liverpool Carbon Capture project, providing further recognition of the strong working relationship and shared commitment to Zero Harm.

A central factor in the award was the leadership and ownership demonstrated by Oumar Ndiongue, Project Director, and the consistent application of LIFE from pre‑mobilisation through to delivery on site.

Prior to mobilisation, Oumar established LIFE as a shared platform with United Infrastructure, organising multiple pre‑start LIFE workshops that actively included the client team. These sessions focused on explaining how LIFE works in practice, the behaviours it promotes, and the benefits of embedding the programme across the project team rather than applying it in isolation.

Regular LIFE workshops were held for new starters, with United Infrastructure consistently invited to attend, ensuring alignment, transparency and shared ownership of the culture on site.

In addition, Oumar hosted the JGL LIFE Leadership Team on site on two occasions, using the project as the setting for strategic LIFE meetings and site tours. These sessions provided valuable opportunities for both JGL and United Infrastructure to openly share learning, strengthen relationships, and reinforce the common values underpinning their approach to safety and workforce engagement.

United Infrastructure also recognised the tangible outcomes delivered through LIFE on the project:

“This integrity‑led approach has empowered operatives to challenge unsafe behaviours, intervene early, and take personal responsibility for the safety of themselves and others. As a direct result, the project has achieved over twelve months of injury‑free performance.”

“JGL have fully embraced United Infrastructure’s EcoOnline system, demonstrating transparency and accountability through proactive reporting, learning reviews and shared safety insights. By integrating their LIFE culture into daily site activities, briefings and workforce engagement, Zero Harm principles are understood, owned and consistently applied at the point of work.”

JGL wins Award

JGL have won the main award from all other suppliers who work for our business across power, water, energy, telecoms and social infrastructure sectors. Fantastic achievement.

United Infrastructure representative commented

This award shows the complete leadership and ownership of LIFE on the project. Oumar’s approach from pre‑mobilisation through to site delivery set the foundations for a truly collaborative culture with United Infrastructure. LIFE was not treated as a JGL programme imposed on a project – it became a shared way of working.

“This recognition reflects the consistency of our teams on site rather than any individual effort, especially given the challenges we have faced throughout the project.”

“LIFE was established early, before mobilisation, to create a shared approach with United Infrastructure. Since then, it has been about maintaining that momentum, keeping people engaged, and ensuring safety conversations remain active and practical. “Winning this award is important, but more importantly, it confirms that our approach is working. We stay focused on delivering it every day.”
