Nuclear
We operate confidently within the nuclear sector, delivering civil and underground works in one of the most highly regulated and technically demanding environments in the UK. Nuclear infrastructure demands exacting specifications, rigorous assurance processes and absolute clarity of compliance, and our approach is built around disciplined planning, structured verification and a safety-first culture.
Our involvement in new nuclear installations is typically supported through Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), where we provide buildability advice, construction methodology input and risk management insight at the earliest stages of project development. In a sector where change becomes increasingly costly as designs progress, our early engagement ensures that underground works, temporary conditions and marine interfaces are fully aligned with regulatory, safety and programme requirements.
We bring specialist expertise in the planning and delivery of tunnels and underground structures that support critical nuclear infrastructure, including service tunnels, outfalls, shafts and associated substructures. Works are developed in accordance with stringent client technical standards, nuclear site licence conditions and applicable British and international codes, underpinned by robust systems engineering and assurance processes.
A notable example of our capability is our involvement in the Hinkley Point C Fish Return Structure, which included the delivery of a 600m outfall into the Severn Estuary, an environment characterised by one of the largest tidal ranges in Europe. This scheme required detailed consideration of tidal constraints, marine conditions, environmental protection and precise construction sequencing to ensure safe and compliant execution. The integration of marine, geotechnical and structural engineering disciplines was critical to successful delivery in such a challenging coastal setting.
Across the nuclear sector, we combine engineering-led planning, trenchless and underground expertise, marine capability and rigorous technical assurance to deliver infrastructure that meets the highest standards of safety, compliance and long-term performance. Our experience enables us to support the development of resilient nuclear facilities that underpin the UK’s future energy security while maintaining confidence with regulators, clients and stakeholders.
