Asset Inspection and Rehabilitation
We provide a comprehensive asset inspection and rehabilitation capability, focused on maintaining the condition, performance and safety of civil, structural, underground and marine assets throughout their lifecycle. Our approach is inspection, monitoring and maintenance centric, supporting informed decision-making, proactive intervention and long-term asset resilience.
An eager, skilled and multidisciplinary team underpins our capability, bringing together experience across civil engineering, tunnelling, marine works and asset assurance. This breadth allows us to understand how assets behave over time, how defects develop, and how best to manage risk through targeted inspection and proportionate intervention.
Our inspection services support planned maintenance, condition assessment, risk management and compliance with technical and regulatory requirements, providing asset owners with clear, practical information to prioritise works and manage whole-life performance.
For civil and structural assets, we undertake detailed visual inspections, defect identification and logging, supported by engineering judgement to assess condition and significance. Our experience covers reinforced concrete elements, retaining walls and substructures, basements and below-ground structures, interfaces between temporary and permanent works, and marine and coastal structures. Where required, we support the development of repair strategies and rehabilitation solutions to address defects safely and efficiently.

Our tunnel and underground inspection capability is tailored to the specific demands of confined, asset-critical environments. Inspections assess lining condition, including cracking, deformation and water ingress, alongside convergence and alignment checks and the integrity of support systems such as anchors, rock bolts and mesh. We also review shotcrete and sprayed concrete surface condition, linking observed performance back to design intent. Reporting includes as-built comparison, tolerance assessment and clear recommendations for remediation, strengthening or ongoing monitoring.
In marine and landfall environments, we provide specialist inspection and assessment of offshore and near-shore outfalls and intakes, landfall structures and transition zones, seawalls, revetments and coastal protection systems, and scour and erosion risks. Inspections can be undertaken from land, marine platforms, with ROV support, or in coordination with specialist diving teams, allowing flexibility to suit asset location, condition and access constraints.
Across all asset types, we place strong emphasis on monitoring and maintenance planning, recognising that early detection and informed intervention are key to extending asset life and reducing whole-life cost. By combining inspection data with engineering insight, we help asset owners move from reactive repair to proactive, risk-based asset management, ensuring infrastructure remains safe, compliant and fit for purpose over the long term.
