Scope
Joseph Gallagher Middle East was appointed to install 928m of 700mm Polycrete pipes for the project. JGL was also asked to supply settlement, jacking-force and back-wall design for the JV, as part of the scope of works. The main contractor Nass were commissioned to construct the secant pile shafts with JGL's Middle East team installing 700mm pipes with our own Iseki microtunnelling equipment.
Projects Highlights
- Project completion ahead of schedule by three months.
- High recognition and appreciation from both the client and main contractor for the project being delivered ahead of schedule without compromising the quality or safety standards.
Approach
We used an Iseki TCC 700 machine featuring a multi-control cabin for the project. Each tunnel was grouted from the ends to ensure that we filled the annulus to prevent any settlement. Building a close, supportive partnership with the JV helped deliver quality results, ahead of programme.
Challenges
Our single biggest challenge was working in the centre of the Al Fateh Highway with busy road traffic surrounding the project and with no highway closures.
