Project Overview

Joseph Gallagher Ltd (JGL) delivered a precision auger bore crossing at Picton Lane as part of the Liverpool Bay Carbon Capture Storage (CCS) Project. Working in partnership with United Infrastructure, the team successfully installed a 36” steel pipeline beneath challenging clay ground conditions.

Despite tight programme constraints, the crossing was completed safely, on time, and within budget, demonstrating JGL’s expertise in delivering complex trenchless solutions for critical infrastructure.

Our Approach

Using specialist auger boring equipment, the team maintained precise control of alignment and ground conditions, ensuring accurate installation while protecting surrounding infrastructure. Careful planning, daily coordination, and experienced operatives enabled smooth delivery with no delays.

Challenges

The project presented challenges including soft clay ground conditions, restricted working space, and a compressed timescale. These were successfully managed through controlled installation techniques, detailed planning, and effective collaboration across all parties.
