Give us a brief overview of your day-to-day responsibilities.
In my role, I support the marketing department with a variety of tasks, including assisting with managing social media content and helping to coordinate internal and external communications. I also contribute to branding projects, event planning, and general administrative duties to ensure the department runs efficiently.
What are your key achievements/highlights to date?
One of my proudest achievements so far has been winning an award for my efforts in Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) through SCS’s EDI programme. It was incredibly rewarding to be recognised for my contributions in promoting inclusivity within the workplace. Alongside this, I have successfully balanced my apprenticeship with full-time work, developing a range of skills in content creation, communication, and project management. Seeing the impact of my work and receiving positive feedback from colleagues has been a great motivation.
What attracted you to the industry?
Marketing has always appealed to me because it is fast-paced, creative, and allows me to work on a variety of projects. I enjoy the challenge of finding new ways to engage audiences and communicate a company’s brand effectively. Working within the civil engineering industry adds another layer of interest, as I get to promote projects that make a real difference in infrastructure and construction.

I wanted to work for a well-respected company that could offer me real opportunities for growth and development. Joseph Gallagher Limited stood out to me because of its strong reputation in the civil engineering sector and its commitment to innovation. The chance to be part of a supportive team, learn from experienced professionals, and contribute to meaningful projects really appealed to me.
Do you have any hints and tips for the recruitment process?
Do your research on the company and industry before applying, and make sure you tailor your application to highlight your relevant skills and interests. In interviews, be yourself and show enthusiasm for the role—employers value a positive attitude just as much as experience.
What advice would you give to students looking for a professional apprenticeship role?
