For 26 years we ran the business without the need of a design service. In 2008 it became clear from the needs of our clients that a tailored design approach to help deliver complex projects was paramount.
Our Design Manager, Ewart Pritchard welcomed the challenge to create a design service from scratch. With an illustrious design history – he thrived delivering this brief. Today we see our Design Services team consist of eight passionate design engineers including four graduate engineers, based in a bespoke design studio in Leeds.
The team are regularly involved in bids and tenders with early engagement on Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) schemes and are experts in collaborating with clients to develop the most efficient designs.
Not only do the work winning team, frequently reach out to the design team to produce technical reports and drawings - our existing projects often require design support and guidance from the team.
Demand for design services can regularly fluctuate at different stages of the project’s life-cycle with quick turnaround design and responses requirements – this is successfully managed through the team having access to the latest software analysis programmes to provide tailored and bespoke solutions to complex design needs.
Slide, Wallap, GSA, X-Disp, D-Geo Pipeline and TEDDS are some of the software packages available to the team.
AutoCAD2D, 3D and Microstation, Revit, Visualisation 3D are design software that the team are equally familiar with and stay up to speed with regular training and development.
We currently operate at BIM Level 2 using Bentley Projectwise on a regular basis for our HS2 and Network Rail projects.
Whether your requirements are for a civil engineering project or a complex tunnelling project, our full range of temporary and permanent design works and consultancy is available and ready to take on the challenge.
We also provide independent services to the construction sector and collaborate with our subsidiary firms, designing solutions to compliment the most intricate projects.
