Project Overview
With an excellent track record and delivery on the Tideway project, JGL were appointed by the main contractor to push 30m of pipe beneath the river Thames using the trenchless tunnelling technique of pipe jacking.
Due to the works being in such close proximity to the river, an open face pipejack shield was manufactured specifically for the project.
Excellent project delivery by the JGL team given the challenges presented. A good sound relationship built with the main contractor and client to ensure all outputs were delivered at the required high standards.

Challenges
The biggest challenge on this project was the public's exposure to the works due to its location being next to Vauxhall Bridge. Members of the public could physically see down to the pit bottom of the shaft. This was managed carefully by the team with enhanced pedestrian management processes put into place.
